How does Homeopathy work?
Homeopathy works by stimulating the body’s own natural ability to treat itself. Patients are treated as individuals, not as a collection of disease labels. When a remedy is given by a Homeopath it will be an individualised prescription, based on the totality of your symptoms, which will include your physical, mental and emotional state. Remedies are prepared by strictly regulated Homeopathic pharmacies.
Is Homeopathy safe?
Remedies come in the form of liquid or small pills and are absolutely safe to take. Homeopathic medicine is non-toxic, non-addictive, has no harmful side effects, is not tested on animals and is safe to take in conjunction with other prescribed medicines. The benefits of Homeopathy can be enjoyed by everyone(even sensitive patients), from pregnancy through childhood and adolescence to adulthood.
How long does treatment take?
This depends very much on what sort of complaint you have, as well as the other individual characteristics of your case. Your Homeopath will be able to make an assessment when they have listened to the details of your case. Most complaints clear up rapidly. Persistent chronic conditions may take longer. A Sense of change, however, should be experienced from the onset.
Taking Homeopathic Medicine
Homeopathic medicines are delicate and need careful handling. The pill should be tipped onto a clean palm and allowed dissolve under the tongue. If possible, give the dose half an hour before or after eating or drinking, cleaning your teeth or smoking. Do not swallow the pill down with tea or coffee.
A good guide is to take one dose of the remedy and wait to see what relief it brings. If symptoms begin to improve, do not repeat the dose unless the same symptoms return. If the symptoms change significantly, select a new remedy to fit the new picture. If in any doubt, WAIT. Giving the body more of a remedy than it needs will not improve or speed up the action of the remedy. If anything, it may stop it from being effective.
